Our Curb and Gutter Curbers can be a cost effective way to produce curb and gutter, however you must be willing to overcome or deal with the following.
Grade: Any of our machines configured for curb and gutter cannot make automated grade changes while extruding. Any imperfections in your grade will result in the same imperfections in your curb and gutter. Example if your grade pitches up 5″ over 3′ then your curb and gutter will do the same.
Mix: Be prepared to spend sometime experimenting with a mix your are satisfied with the finish of the curb and gutter. Some customers will use our extruded curb mix recipe and are happy with that, others prefer a mix with a little more slump so they can use the “cream” from the mix to give it a nicer finish, We suggest you consult your local supplier to find a mix that you are satisfied with.
Getting familiar with the machine: Our machines are extruded machines, so they put down a curb and push itself back against that, there is no drive or transmission. You need to spend sometime getting use to steering, turning radius and following the pointer. This is also a good time to determine how many employees you will need on your crew.
Training: We do not offer any kind of onsite training, but you are welcome to visit the factory once your machine is built and we will test it with sand, show you how to use and answer any questions for you.
Other considerations: Moving the machine around a job site could be difficult depending on the grade. The machine does have a lifting lug and you may want to lift the machine with a skid steer and take it to where you will be using it. We recommend using our curb and gutter machines on flat terrain. Minimal hills are acceptable but could create issues.
